Seeing
Photographically
The digital photo revolution has produced
an explosion of pictures and their takers. It is easy to make a
technically satisfactory image with little thought or experience. This
workshop will help you to move from snapshooting to intentional image
making --from taking to making
photographs. We will deepen the process of making a photograph by
connecting what we hold inside ourselves with what we discover in front
of the lens. We will become more aware of how light can become a dear
friend and teacher. We will spend time looking critically (and
respectfully) at the images we make. We will explore new worlds and
possibilities through our images, and possibly through collaboration
with students in other workshops. We will finish the workshop by
creating a photographic exhibit for the whole workshop community to
view. NOTE: If you attended this workshop last year, you
will have ample opportunity to deepen your seeing and your image-making
skills this year.
Requirements:
1. A digital camera with full manual control (f/stops and shutter speeds) and manual focus
2.
A working familiarity with the manual controls on your camera (We will
not be spending much workshop time on the operation of your camera.)
3. Battery and battery charger for your camera and an extra memory card
4. Basic experience in working with photos in a computer.
5. Although not required, if you have your own computer and/or photo printer, we would greatly appreciate your bringing it. Please let us know in advance. Thanks.
Materials fee: $45.00 If you use your own printer: $20.00
