Rochester Folk Art Guild Events,


The Rochester Folk Art Guild artisans celebrate their 41st year of living
in community in Middlesex, Yates County-- the heart of the Finger Lakes
Region.  The Guild offers apprenticeship and internship opportunities in
pottery, woodworking, organic farming, community living, and more.

The East Hill Gallery on site shows a selection of their craftwork seasonally, from May to October.

Programs listed here attest to the Guild's dedication to fine craftsmanship, quality, detail, and tradition.

Summer Teen Pottery Classes with Claire Willis
MWF, July 11- Aug 1   $30/class ($300 for entire series) + materials
An offering of 10 classes for teens, exploring a variety of traditional
ceramic techniques, including wheel-throwing, hand-building, high-fire
glazing and pit firing.

Shibori and Vegetable Dyeing Workshop with Sara Burnett
July 11-13   $150 + $65 materials
In this 3 day workshop the colors of antiquity will be reproduced using
natural plants and insect materials. Techniques of pole-wrapped, folded and clamped shibori, hand-stitching and vegetable dyeing will be studied.

Japanese Pottery Workshop with Steve Merritt
Aug 2-3   $180 + $20 materials
This is a unique opportunity for potters of all levels to gather under the
guidance of this respected and well-known master. Emphasis will be on
Japanese techniques of throwing and creating large vessels through sectional work.

Summer Concerts by Ensemble Resonance
Presentations of music from around the world, rooted in improvising
techniques and using the Ensemble's original and unusual instrumentation.
The trio of Michael Hunter, piano, Paul Schliffer, flute and Matthew Shubin, bassoon, continue to delight audiences throughout the Finger Lakes Region.

East Hill Gallery at the Rochester Folk Art Guild is open to the public every weekend, featuring fine handcrafts from the heart of the Finger Lakes Region.

The gallery is open
Fridays, Sundays and Mondays from 1p.m. - 5 pm
and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
