Agriculture

Being aware of the natural setting and working in the surrounding gardens and flelds  has always been central to living at the Guild. Our intention is to actively pursue the development of renewable energy technologies and conservation methods that lessen dependance on un-renewable resources.

Boat Shop

For over twenty years, we have used sound traditional methods to repair, restore and rebuild wooden paddling, rowing, and sailing craft.

Clothing Design

The Rochester Folk Art Guild Clothing Design Studio is pleased to offer selections from our line of easy to wear garments for women.

Graphic Arts

The study of color, form, and proportion provides direct inspiration for the items we produce.

Kitchen

Our work in the kitchen is approached in the same way we approach our work in the craft shops, with care and attention to the finest details.

Music

Music has been a vital part of the Guild since its beginnings. Today, through chamber music, improvisations, and the music of Gurdjieff / De Hartmann, we are finding certain qualities of sound and listening which may awaken a new sensitivity in ourselves and our audience.

Pottery

I am in constant awe of the patterns, textures and rhythms of nature. I wish my work to reflect this as well as nature’s mystery; to let the clay dance in my hands and my body so that the clay and I become one.

Weaving

Weaving items are made mostly from natural fibers, primarily wool with silk, mohair cotton and rayon as additions.

Woodworking

In all aspects of the craft, the woodworkers strive to work with care and attention: How can we work quickly and intelligently at the same time? All parts of a person are called, the mind, the body, and the heart.
